Y14: Steaming Again!

We are proud to announce a major milestone in the comprehensive overhaul of ourJ15/Y14, with the successful passing of an 'out of frames' steam test on the locomotive's boiler on Tuesday 9th September.

The Society is now preparing for a big push to close the gap in theappeal total, which currently stands at over £72,000 of the £100,000 total.

The massive generosity of supporters to date has led to the great progress made so far, which with this latest good news now includes the steaming of our Y14 in 2014! This has been preceeded by some significant boiler works on the inner firebox and firehole door - all made possible and paid for by the appeal fund.

Extra works have been identified, which have included the manufacturing and machining of new expansion links to replace life expired originals. The cost of which has unfortunatly placed greater strain on appeal funds. Therefore, we must ask for greater support more than ever to reach the appeal total and complete the overhaul.

With this in mind, we will be undertaking a 'Big Push' at our 2014Members Dayon Saturday 4th October. With three Society engines in traffic, along with the Vintage Set and Quad-Art Set No.74 and free travel for all Society members and NNR shareholders, it is a day not to be missed.
