Class 31 Works in Home Fleet Gala
Our 1960 built Class 31 (Brush Type Two), D5631 has been working passenger trains on the NNR, including an appearance for the Weybourne Traction Group's home fleet diesel gala on the 16th February.
Due to the NNR's DMU undergoing overhaul in Weybourne works, the opportunity has been taken to use mainline diesel locos for the NNR yellow timetable. Normally mainline diesel locomotives only work on Saturdays as midweek and Sunday turns are worked by the DMU.
D5631 has been booked to run on the 17th, 19th, 21st and 24th February. However, due to cold weather D5631 will now no longer be working these February dates as our locomotive cannot heat trains. It will be substituted with the NNR's 25057 as this loco has a steam heat boiler which keeps the carriages nice and toasty! However, D5631 is still due to work on the 3rd and 24th March. D5631 will also make an appearance for the summer diesel gala, which is held on the 14th - 16th June.
The home fleet gala and summer gala in June are organised by the Weybourne Traction Group. The group organises and promotes all NNR diesel based events. Up to date NNR diesel news is posted on the WTG's Facebook and Twitter pages:

Don't forget you can support D5631 by joining The Loco Club - we want to continue with her ongoing restoration by rebuilding the Holt-end cab. This will involve the restoration of the original headcode indicator boxes and bufferbeam valances. To join the club, please visit the 'Join' pages.
