Bar Car Open for Business

For visitors attending the North Norfolk Railway's Spring Steam gala this March, keep a look out for a new venture from the M&GN Joint Railway Society - the "Muddle and Go Nowhere" Bar.

Situated aboard our 1937 LNER Restaurant Buffet coach, complete with art-deco 1930s style interior, the bar will be selling a variety of cask and bottled ales, beers, wines and snacks.

The "Muddle and Go Nowhere" Bar takes its name from an old nickname of the Midland & Great Northern (M&GN) Joint Railway, which earnt a reputation for long journey times. However, the M&GN's chief engineer William Marriott was a staunch tee-totaller, so perhaps the nickname might not have stuck had passengers been treated with on train liquid refreshment?

The Society bookshop will be open over both weekends of the gala and there will also representatives of the Society travelling on trains and at Weybourne. If you would like to join the Society over the gala weekend, then they will be only to happy to help you.

The North Norfolk Railway's Spring Steam Gala is being held over two weekends. The first is on 8th, 9th & 10th March and the second on 16th & 17th March. Full details can be found on the North Norfolk Railway website. The Gresley Bar car will be open for the first weekend only.
